Mrs. Malory and any Man's Death by Hazel Holt

Mrs. Malory and Any Man's DeathMrs. Malory and Any Man's Death by Hazel Holt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 19th installment of one my favorite cozy mystery series, Mrs Malory series by Hazel Holt. These are perfect books to read on cold winter evenings with a hot cup of cocoa by my reading chair and my purring cat on my lap.

I love Mrs Malory all the residents of the little English village she lives in and this one involves a busy body who sticks her nose into someone else's business once to often!

Right Behind You by Lisa Gardner

Right Behind You (Quincy & Rainie, #7)Right Behind You by Lisa Gardner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I truly do love all of the books I read by Lisa Gardner, and having said that, my favorite series by her is the Quincy and Raine series.

This is a real page turner as usual and this time the crime hits very close to home because the central figure is the young girl they have just recently adopted. Loved every minute of it, kept me guessing until the very end.

2018 Reading Plans & Challenges

A Month of Summer by Lisa Wingate

A Month of Summer (Blue Sky Hill #1)A Month of Summer by Lisa Wingate
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Blue Sky Hill series by Lisa Wingate, but the 2nd book in the series I have read and I loved it. It is so warm and lovely and full of wonderful characters, both sexes and all ages and from different walks of life. Lisa Wingate paints such a beautiful picture of life during a summer spent in Blue Hill.

This is a story about relationships, love lost and found, trust and has good people as well as a very bad person. I loved the ending of the book when the author pulls everything together in a beautiful and believable conclusion.

Catch Me (Detective D.D. Warren, #6)Catch Me by Lisa Gardner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In four days someone is going to kill Charlene Grant unless she can get D.D. Warren to help her find out who wants her dead and why. Finding out the answers to these questions makes for a great read and another thrill ride of a book by Lisa Gardener. Love it!

Crash and Burn by Lisa Gardner

Crash & Burn (Tessa Leoni, #3)Crash & Burn by Lisa Gardner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first Tessa Leoni book by Lisa Gardner I have read and definitely not the last. This is the 3rd installment in the series and so exciting and thrilling and once again Lisa Gardner shows her skill not only for writing page turning, edge of your seat murder mysteries but also some very strong female leads.

This book had me guessing until the very end, I had no idea what the whole story would be and I was not disappointed in this book's conclusion.

The Sealed Letter by Emma Donoghue

The Sealed LetterThe Sealed Letter by Emma Donoghue
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a very good book based on a real life event, it takes place in Victorian England and is full of drama, vice, sex, betrayal and reads a little like a soap opera.

I enjoyed it and once I finished it I researched the characters in the book to see what happened to them after the events of the book.

Live to Tell by Lisa Gardner

Live To Tell (Detective D.D. Warren, #4)Live To Tell by Lisa Gardner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reading this book was such a rush, an entire family is killed and there are not alot of clues, but D.D. Warren won't rest until she finds out who the killer is and I didn't rest until I finished the book and found out the answer.

Lisa Gardner is just such a fantastic mystery writer and besides the plot being well written, plot twists galore but her characters are so well written that as I am reading the book they become so real to me that after I'm finished with book, I can't stop think about them.

I Know a Secret by Tesss Gerritsen

I Know a Secret (Rizzoli & Isles, #12)I Know a Secret by Tess Gerritsen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow, what a ride, I could not wait to get this book, and I am so glad I per-ordered it! I love the Rizzoli and Isles series by Tess Gerritsen, and this one did not disappoint me, such a great thriller.

I won't say to much about the plot because I don't want to give spoilers, but it definitely was a page turner for me and I was just as much interested in what was going on the personal lives of Rizzoli and Isles as I was in the seemingly unrelated murders they were investigating.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book, it is bleak but oh so lovely and the story is just so spellbinding.

I started the book and had trouble putting it down once I entered the world of the not so far off future this author had created. In fact I read the first part of the book, right up to the last three pages in just a couple of days but then I put it down for weeks because I just couldn't bring myself to finish reading it.

I loved how the author intertwined all the characters stories and brought them all together at the end.

The author ask a question at the beginning of the book; "what would you miss?" My answer, everything!

A Crack in the Edge of the World by Simon Winchester

A Crack in the Edge of the WorldA Crack in the Edge of the World by Simon Winchester
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such an excellent book! I listened to the cd's in my car and learned so much from this book. It just doesn't cover the big earthquake of 1906 in San Francisco, but what causes earthquakes stories about large earthquakes before and after the San Francisco and geology and some of the history of the study of earthquakes.

Mr. Winchester reads his book and he is an excellent story teller!

Oh my goodness, this book, I mean this book! It is just one of the best books I've read in the last year, yes it is bleak and cold but what a story, what characters, Ree, this girl, has just so much strength and resolve and grit and maturity and she has to take care of her family in this cold bitter wilderness they live in and the are truly dirt poor and now her father has disappeared and her family may lose their little rundown house they live and the small patch of land it sits on if she doesn't find him and find him fast.

The Library Card by Jerry Spinelli

The Library CardThe Library Card by Jerry Spinelli
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a collection of 4 short stories, 4 different kids from different walks of life, all for a short time possessing the magic blue library card. I enjoyed all 4 stories, my favorite had a homeless boy as it's main character. This like all of Jerry Spinelli's books are geared for young readers, but all readers, young and old can learn something from each of these stories.
